Uninsured coverage applies whenever the driver who caused the collision has no insurance, or where the driver has left the scene and can’t be identified (hit-and-run).

Uninsured and underinsured motorists can leave their victims in difficult financial circumstances after an accident. You can only recover uninsured or underinsured payments from your own insurance company up to the level of coverage you have purchased. We encourage everyone to consider purchasing as much uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage insurance as possible in order to protect you and your family.

A Utah driver may have the minimum insurance amount required by law. However, that insurance may not be enough to fully compensate the victims involved. Therefore, your own underinsured motorist coverage can be added to the amount of available insurance from the party that caused the accident. At Larson Law, we can help you maximize recovery from your own insurance, in addition to the insurance from the party that caused the accident.

The idea of underinsured motorist coverage often comes into play when there are multiple party claims involved in an accident. A chain-reaction accident may result in multiple vehicles with several passengers, all caused by the carelessness of only one motorist. Likewise, there may be other parties that contributed to the accident, such as the manufacturer of the vehicle or auto parts and components, or the highway itself may be defective by having been improperly designed or maintained. We will carefully analyze every situation to discover the role played by all parties that may have contributed to the collision.
